How to carry out thermal modernization of a building?

Constantly rising energy prices mean that more and more people pay close attention to the energy efficiency of their home. In fact, each improvement contributes to saving on heating bills and reducing the negative impact of the house on the environment.


The first step with which the thermal modernization of the building should begin is to perform an energy audit. It allows you to assess exactly where heat loss occurs and what solutions should be used to improve thermal efficiency. It is important to identify all thermal bridges, because they not only lead to cooling down of the building, but can also be a source of moisture and even damage to the structure.

If it has not already been done at the construction stage, it is worth to insulate the house, e.g. with polystyrene. The resulting thermal insulation will help to keep the heat inside, significantly reducing the amount of new heat that the heating system has to produce. Other recommended solutions include the installation of airtight windows that do not allow air to pass through, and thus prevent heat loss. It is worth paying attention to the winter mode in the windows, which, by pressing the sash to the frame, additionally seals the entire structure.

However, not only devices, but also everyday habits help to reduce heating bills. One of the most important issues is proper ventilation. It is recommended that it be carried out as short as possible and without allowing the rooms to cool down. Efficient ventilation allows for quick air exchange without excessively lowering the temperature inside the building.
